Described as “crazy, fun & new”, Pinterest’s new visual search tool comes highly anticipated.

Considering that Pinterest is the largest online pinboard, it was about time they introduced visual search.

Visual search engines are nothing new, but it is always refreshing to see them implemented on different platforms. As one of the largest social bookmarking sites, this algorithm will only improve user experience at Pinterest.

The visual search allows you to select a certain portion of the pin/image that you like, and look it up. Results will show you other Pins like it, as well as some filtering options.

It would be interesting if the tool can later on be integrated with Google’s image search engine. This can definitely save users some time. Perhaps, we’ll have to wait for the search giant to buy the bookmarking website first.

The tool should be live on both desktop and mobile devices.
